Season and passes
Wimberley limits the number of swimmers with two daily windows and sells them ahead online. A season pass covers repeat visits, and residents get a cheap evening session three nights a week. Outside the swim area you can walk the trails and use the picnic grounds without paying.
Water quality and the dry spring
The city posts bacteria sampling for the swimming hole and closes it when counts exceed the state contact recreation criteria; in 2025 it stayed shut until June 18 after runoff. On the afternoon of November 4, 2026 the USGS gauge for Jacob's Well spring near Wimberley read zero flow (provisional).
